Done and dusted here. It got dark, I looked up at the occluded sun, and a minute later things were almost back to normal. Don't know what all the fuss was about
I certainly would not have spent time with goofy glasses sitting staring at the sun

Not total here, but still had a nice ride on local trail connecting several parks. Lots of people outside more like a holiday weekend than a Monday. Temperature dropped a bit at peak.

I watched the live ABC tv news coverage of the event today from just before 2pm EDT to 4pm EDT.
The first showed it from a city in Mexico.
About five minutes later they had coverage from DEL RIO, TEXAS.
The ABC News team there in Del Rio, Texas spoke live on the air with a very fit, retired couple WHO HAD RIDDEN THEIR BICYCLES FROM SAN DIEGO to DEL RIO to see the Eclipse.
THEY WERE ASKED WHEN THEY LEFT SAN DIEGO, they said That They Left San Diego a month ago.
Sorry, I do not remember their names. Someone who dvr 'd the live ABC Broadcast may be able to recognize their names and then give them the proper congrats on making such a cool journey.
My hat is off to them in a fitting salute for making such a cool bicycle journey!!!

Through our cloud cover we saw the total eclipse. My wife and I were in the back yard with Nachos and Champagne. After all, we would be over 110 years old the next time we had one in our area. My Dad at 97 was at our picnic bench. His head tilted back with his View Glasses on waiting for the intermittent peak through he clouds. When I sat next to him his eyes were close and he let out a soft snore...

Yep... It Was Pretty Exciting For Im...

Anyway, It was a nice show for sure.

Was in Rochester for a totality that was totally clouded out. Could not even tell exactly where the sun was.

I was bummed, but it was still pretty amazing. It was like someone turning the dimmer switch down to 50% over 15 minutes, then from 50% to zero in about 5 seconds. You could see the darkness sweeping across the cloudy skies.

If I need to be in the dark, all I need to do is strike up a conversation with my Cal Tech neighbor about electronics.

I enjoyed spending an hour with my 22 year old son, checking the eclipse progress, remembering the pinhole box we made long ago, and just talking.

As for the request for bike + eclipse pics, a pinhole bike for a pinhole-like partial eclipse here, but at least we had clear skies. The different time of year and angle of the sun meant I had to take cardboard out into the yard to duplicate the crescents I captured in Aug of '17

I was able to spend the eclipse with our Seattle daughter after picking her up at RDU earlier in the day. She's here for a few days before heading to DC to meet up with younger sister Liz for a vacation trip.

Wish I'd moved the pineapple transplants on the left that may not make it . You can grow pineapple plants from store-bought pineapples by rooting the tops instead of throwing them away but it's harder to do over the winter.

I was driving in western West Virginia, it was mostly cloudy. During the eclipse, Interstate 64 was not empty, but not much traffic. Rest ares had numbers of people, but not crowded. I did not stop until I hit the Maryland Welcome center by Deep Creek lake, well after it was over. I think it got a little bit darker for a few minutes, due to the eclipse. But, with the occasional very dark clouds, not sure about that.Traffic definitely picked afterward.

There were a lot of families on the lawn in front of the main branch of the Philadelphia Free Library, where they were giving out free glasses.

I took these in the Killdeer Wildlife Area in Ohio. One of my bicycles was involved because I had to move it to get one of my telescopes out of the garage.

P900 proves the earth is flat, do your own research, the sun and the moon are local, you can't cross the firmament, we didn't go to the moon. Don't listen to the globetards!...

Here in Northeastern NY, it was fantastic. First real spring day at almost 60 degrees, morning ride of 20 miles. Came back through our small town and it was packed. We've a small nature trail adjacent to our property and total strangers were walking up the hill to do the trail all morning. Just good vibes, have no idea where they were all staying just not that many rooms available. Glad they came nonetheless.
Watch parties all around. Can't understand those that downplay this, although if they weren't in the path of totality than maybe so.

For me, I was taken by the power of the sun that I'd not realized before. When there was just the smallest sliver of sun left you could see well and there was just a weird light. The instant that totality hit it became dark, almost like a switch. Off came the glasses for 3 minutes and just something you don't get to see, moon with rim of light from the sun surrounding it but yet we're in total darkness. Glad I witnessed it.
