I’m a courier by trade, which translates to expertise in riding with traffic, and ability to ride broken components until they fail. The tire in question was the one from the “tire not seating” thread I made, and it made it a couple hundred more miles before failing. That’s why I decided it wasn’t worth trying to replace the tube, the new tube would explode too. If I could do it all over, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Riding the bad tire might have saved you $2.50. But it cost you a $5 tube.
You might have been lucky to repair the rim. You might not be so lucky next time.
Rather than replace a $50 tire, you risked being stranded and possibly destroying a rim.
It would have been cheaper to fix things properly than “ride broken components until they fail” (which isn’t an “ability”; it’s just dumb.).
It’s bad decisions all the way down.

The rim is fine.. I can hardly even find the pictured damage after I fixed it with pliers. I don’t have space in my saddle bag because I carry a water pipe, lighters, big bag of weed, and often a concentrate in the saddlebag. I actually am thinking of getting a bigger bag because my favorite bubbler doesn’t fit in it.

It seems almost certain you didn’t expect to damage the rim at all. So, it would seem your “judgement” was objectively defective.
And, you were so certain of your “judgement”, you had to ask about it here.
No one here has suggested what you did was a good choice. I suspect everybody understood what you did would likely damage the rim.

There's usually space in a "fanny pack" for a spare tube, tire levers, patch kit, even a few other items. Never ridden far at all on a flat.

TPU tubes are small, and you can get dozens from china for a minimal amount

People here don’t do that because they don’t choose to ride on bad tires and carry tubes/patches. It’s a dumb thing to crow about. It’s just a measure of your recklessness.
