Lawn equipment is louder than the trumpet. I usually have some ear protection, but haven't always.
One time I fired a #&$ without any ear protection. That was a mistake. It seems like it was ten minutes or so before things started sounding normally again.

i've been next to a lightning strike. I raced motocross on two strokes before mufflers were required. The loudest noise i've been subjected to was as InSync concert with my daughter. (not the band, the girls watching).

Generally, it's all of the A. B. C. dialogue. I'm not a fan of choosing the dialogue.

Howdy all, thought I would stop in to say hello and to post a progress update. I've been doing pretty okay recently on my diet and exercise. I managed to ride a little over 5,300 miles last year and have a goal of 6,000 miles for 2021.
I'm currently down 85 pounds, from 295 to 210. I'm still just as ugly but that isn't nearly as easy to fix. My initial goal is to get to 195 then decide if I want to go lower.
Anyway, that's about it for me. Hope everyone is doing well.

Ah, yeah - that's going to be problematic for this type of game. One of the beautiful aspects is that you can choose your playthrough style, which is awesome in terms of replayability. but a lot depends on interaction with non-player characters, whether you sweet-talk, intimidate, perform tasks, etc.

Reminds me of the scene from Woody Allen's "Take The Money And Run", where he passes a barely legible note to a bank teller:
"'I have a gub. Give me all your cash.' Gub? What's a gub?"
"'I have a gub. Give me all your cash.' Gub? What's a gub?"

Dinner was in a tent, right next to the flagpole where the cannon was sitting and during dessert and dancing and toasts and whatnot, I remembered the extra shell in my pocket and it was obvious what needed to be done. This time I enlisted some help, a real retired line officer, former XO of the Kittyhawk, i.e., the real thing. I put fingers in both ears and made him do it. He was terrified.

That is a mistake, and you're lucky it returned to normal. About 2 years ago, I was using electronic hearing protection that failed while at an indoor range. Ended up losing a fair bit of left ear hearing. Only do it outdoors now, with ear plugs and muffs.
I now wear hearing protection when using gas powered lawn equipment as well.

Now, yeah, it's only occasionally that I have large blocks of time to myself, so I've got no real desire to start up something again.

But I have done that. One band in particular I remember causing some damage. The worst part is that they weren't even good
My hearing isn't awful, but there is some tinnitus there.

At a sailing buddy's wedding, they borrowed a yacht race starting cannon, which fires a blank shot#&$ shell, to fire at some point in the ceremony. The crowd was mainly military and because they me pegged as the only corps officer in the bunch and a big city, lib, academic, Jew and had nothing else for me to do, they naturally made me fire the cannon. I put a finger in the near ear and pulled the lanyard with the far hand and HOE-LEE ****! was that loud! I had actually fired a #&$s, including shot#&$s, in the past, without hearing protection because I was a punk-ass kid, and this was way louder. I had tinnitus for many minutes and I'm sure it took my auditory thresholds on the left down a permanent notch.

And, no, he's not a member of any militia.

My dad has bad hearing, and I think my hearing is going as well. If you talk to my wife she would tell you i’m deaf, what she wouldn’t tell you is that she always try’s to have conversations with me when she is on the opposite side of the house. Or when we are in the car she talks to her window instead of looking at me.
But yes, I am deaf.
