suspect you may be on correct track with idea of a Germany origin for the cycle

Sachs gear ensemble and Altenburger brake set could be original components...

frame constructed with Agrati bits -

the bulge-formed head is "AM" pattern N. 000.8046

the semi-sloping fork crown is Agrati item N. 001.8518

possible the plain square cut bottom bracket shell may be Agrati item N. 000.8517

ends set is not Agrati

looks like chain stay bridge will be ESGE plate style

German producers employed a fair amount of Agrati frame bits, especially bulge-formed heads

no guesses as to maker

other more knowledgeable readers will be along shortly with better information for you

fittings plausible to possibly be original:

headset

chainset

brake set

gear ensemble

fittings clearly not original:

wheels

saddle pillar

saddle

date:

the Sachs gear components should exhibit a date mark

it is in the form of four digits

the first two numbers indicate the week of the year

the send two numbers indicate the year

this could be checked against the date marking on the back side of the chainset's Sakae Ringyo model Silstar-5DXC drive side crank arm

guide to reading markings here -

Date of Manufacture of Bicycle Components can be used to date a bike: component dating

if the two dates are close it could suggest both components original

of course it could also indicate they came from the same donor bicycle...

the poor thing hath transited a rough lifetime

we need to keep in mind that what we are seeing in the fork may be what a fork straightener deemed to be "aligned"

when a machine achieves this state and a poster requests marque/model/date type identification it can be a real -

Could also be STAIGER of Austria, and maybe it lost some bits over the years like a dynamo holder, or it was a "racier" sport model, where the raciness was supplied by not having one.

a good number of matching details there.

---

Myantinomy_1 -

we are joshing about the bicycle's fork but it is something which merits looking into

for example, the impact which deformed the blades may have also deformed the steerer (fork tube)

if this is the case the headset will alternately bind and slip when the fork is turned in a bind-slip-bind-slip pattern

this affects steering and control of the cycle which is a safety issue

fork should either be aligned by someone who knows what they are doing or else it should be replaced
