Why I went to an LBS as opposed to online

Agreed to do a 100 mile charity ride in September after being nagged about. Naturally I would need a bike. So I started the ardous process of Internet research and going to bike shops. ultimately I settled on a. shop that fit me to Caad8 in 58cm. I thought it was smallish for me at 6'2 to 6'3 but even though he was young, he was the pro and I really know nothing about bikes.
so after riding about 200 miles, the bike is not comfortable. It was bone jarring to me.
I took the bike in to have it tuned after the first month or so and I mentioned to what I later learned was the owner that it was not comfy and that I didn't think I would be able to go 50 let alone 100 miles on it. I realay mentioned it in passing and to see if there were any changes I could make that would help.
He said hold on and went into the back. He came out with a new Synapse and said take this and ride it. He said the components won't feel as smooth but focus on the feel of the bike.
I rode it and it was night and day. So, he is ordering me a new synapse with 105 in 61cm as opposed to 58, and soaking up the about 175 difference in price.
That's pretty good service if you ask me.
