North Scotland tour
Hello,
I am looking for a travel mate to do North Scotland together, preferably by tent. Planned trip summer 2020.
The bike trail imagined would go along the east coast and then through the highlands to the west coast with starting point Edinburgh.
I live in Rotterdam, The Netherlands,
Please message me if interested.
Best,
Cristian

I came over from a Ferry port in Northern Ireland, to Stranraer, took the Island Hopper to the several Inner Hebrides , and landing at Oban ,
and going along the shore of Loch Ness..
I was riding alone ...Solo.. , 21 years ago , My 50th year..
enjoy the trip.....

I'd suggest trying a couple of the UK forums. Or CrazyGuyOnABike has a classifieds section for touring partners.

Firm but gentle
Be ready for a lot of rain at times, a little rain at times, and surprisingly hard climbs.

I Note: 2 roads north shore of Loch Ness is at shore level Main Route A82.. where the traffic is..
B 862,852, on the south shore, goes Up but ,
it does so over a longer distance from the North , a shorter steeper rise, from Ft. Augustus end on the south ..
a copy of Nicholas Crane's book ;

- The CTC Route Guide to Cycling in Britain and Ireland (with Christa Gausden, 1980) , may come in handy..

dutch fellow, good luck on planning the trip. You'd be better off riding with someone you have ridden with and have an idea of how you would get along, and having an idea of your expectations and experience touring will be important to go over stuff with any riding partner beforehand.
but seriously, being Dutch, be aware of just how diff the attitudes to cyclists are and how little respect and regard to you will be different than even in France as an example.
just be aware anyway.
As always, road choice and how much traffic is present will make a big difference in this regard, hopefully it isnt as bad as I envision it(and I have close family living in Scotland and would love to ride up there from London lets say, but have my misgivings, rain and roads--and I've ridden in Latin America a fair amount, so am used to "stuff" )

It you want to go to the northern most point, pick up the Land's end to John O'Groats route ,
its popular and can be researched..

the rain, and also the narrow road and speeding cars emulating Nigel Mansel and Lewis Hamilton gives me the willies, and I'm not one prone to willies.

I'm sure you would get better recommendations from some UK based touring forums.
CTC forums ? I forget name of the British forum similar to this, but that's what I figured I would do if I ever bike over there, to get info from British riders.
