My 2015 Specialized Sirrus Carbon Comp. Work in Progress

Hi,
New to the forum and just wanted to share some photos of my new baby. Specialized Sirrus Carbon Comp. Open to comments and suggestions for next upgrades. Nothing wasted from original bike as all the bits have gone to upgrade my son’s bike.
Never intended to change anything, just got carried away. Next change will hopefully be a Specialized Cavendish Saddle to continue the Hyper Green theme.

Upgrades as follows.
1. Mavic Ksyrium Pro Disc Wheels
2. GatorSkin tyres (maybe not an upgrade but great tyres)
3. S Works Stem
4. Strut F750 Carbon Handlebar (cut to 625mm with less back sweep than original bar)
5. XTR M9000 race Brakes
6. Shimano 160mm front disk with Avid 140mm Rear
7. Full Ultegra 10 speed group set apart from Deore Flat bar 10 speed shifters
8. Easton Bar ends (bought from Ebay, sure they are fake but seem very strong, will replace some time with genuine ones)
9. Dura-Ace pedals

Nice looking bike!

I love the Ksyrium wheels. I almost bought those for my 2014 but I went with the Crossmax SL because of the hub color and they are wider at 19mm.

Great job on the bike though! The silver hubs look great on your bike.

Hi,
Bar ends coming off tonight, Picking up a pair of carbon S-Works bar ends today from the Bristol Specialized Concept store. Can't believe the amount of fake carbon gear on Ebay. This stuff caught my eye as being fake FSA Carbon Bicycle Parts | eBay or am I wide of the mark

The FSA items in that listing are definitely fake.

Post up some photos of the bike with the new bar ends installed!

Nice looking bike. However, I seem to recall reading that Shimano 10 speed mountain groups aren't compatible with 10 speed road groups. And I know front derailleurs have never been the same pull between mountain and road, but for a double it is probably doable.

How is the shifting on your bike, or has it been ridden yet?

As far as future upgrades... I wouldn't have upgraded as much as you have, so I have nothing meaningful to add.

The Deore shifters are flat bar road shifters, some suppliers quote them as ultegra but that's not strictly true these are the 10x3 versions Shimano Ultegra R770 Triple 10sp Flatbar Shifter | Chain Reaction Cycles mine are the 10x2 versions.
Shifting is silky smouth. Covered about 200 miles this week

I'll be getting one asap . I asked this in another thread (no one answered though). Can You fit a 35c tire in there? (I'm afraid the rear one might be a tight fit).

Would love to give the new 2015 Sirrus Carbon frames a try, I think Specialized has softened the ride some. Probably much to my liking. But with the resale value of bikes swapping my old 14 Sirrus for a new 15 would not work out.

I've measured the frame at the point where the rear tyre is thickest and make it 42-45mm. There is 7mm either side of the gator skin 700x28.

Hope that helps.

I'm not sure about the 2015 model but there is no way to fit 35mm tires on the 2014.

I'm fairly sure they will fit. I've got a set of marathons in 32mm in the shed. I'll pop them on my old wheels and fit them to see how much clearance there is. Haven't got time today but will try it out tomorrow and let you know how much clearance is left.

Well, anyone could have wrote that I rather make sure and ask guys who ride the Sirrus.
(The 35c Marathon Supreme is actually 37-622 / 28x1.4). If it realy fits, most 35c tires will.

Rim width will also have a bearing on the Supreme. I know they are 37s, but on my 18mm or narrower rims, they actually measure 35, with 92PSI in them. I would also make sure I had "clearance" preferably 5mm all the way around. 2 or 3mm would make me nervous.

There is not a huge difference between 32 and 35, but peace of mind would be huge.

Fitted the Marathon plus 32, plenty of room. I would say a least 5mm both sides if not more

Just curious, did you check it on the front as well? I have plenty of room in the rear on my 2014 but the front is a bit tighter. I checked a 32 on the front of mine but it wouldn't fit with the old wheels. But looking at it now with the new wider wheels on it I think it may because the 32 was a bit too tall on the old wheels. The new wheels are 19mm wide as opposed to 15mm wide so the profile will be different. This is something keniutek may want to consider. A narrower rim will make the tire taller and that will effect the fit as well.

Here are some photos of my 28mm Ultremo ZX's mounted on 19mm (I.D) rims on my 2014 Sirrus.

I fitted a 32mm to the front wheel this afternoon, with the wheel fitted and secured it wouldn't rotate very easily (rims are 19mm wide). Stopped at this point and didn't waste my time seeing if the rear was 32mm friendly. Maybe that's the reason my 2014 beauty came with 25's fitted

The 2015 frame is so different to the 2014.

I think you and I may have been responding at almost the same time so you may have missed my last post. I think it has a lot to do with the width of the rim you are using. Looking at my bike with the new 19mm wide rims I really think I could fit a 32mm without an issue. On the OEM wheels (15mm I.D) I don't think there's a chance that would happen. If you look at the photos I posted you can see there's a lot of room left with the 28mm on the wider rim.

Also, one other thing to note.... The 28mm Schwalbe Ultremo ZX tires I have mounted measure closer to 29.5mm on the wider rims. So what you're actually looking at in the above photos is a tire that's almost 30mm.
