Frustrated and annoyed. Put me in an even bigger cast. Have been fighting with my wife since. Two trips back up to the doctors office. Threatening to cut it down on my own.

When I broke my hand I trimmed down my cast... little bits here and there... by 3 weeks later it was much smaller.

Taking a break from the club rides and going on mountain bike rides instead. At the ride start Saturday two of the better riders were putting on body armor. I ended up doing a bit of walking on that ride.

I like my single track a little more mellow than that. Were you guys riding XC bikes? Or closer to an all mountain bike with gobs of travel?

Every part of SoCal that is not a unliveable desert and has a 0% grade has been paved over.

Just bought an "enduro" type bike. 160mm fork and 150 in the back with 27.5 x 2.8 tires. Closest thing to a motorcycle I've been on. It does great on rocks, bumps, and low traction stuff but the trail these guys took me on had lots of cliffs to worry about. Not my favorite type of trail.

Saw this headline today: New recordings of pre-Dead Jerry Garcia surface.

And my first thought was, pre-dead, as in when he was still alive. That would make sense. I hope he's not recording from beyond the grave.

Then I realized the D in dead was capitalized, referring to his time before the Grateful Dead, which makes more sense.

Cut part of my cast down in the middle of the night out in the garage. Hacksaw. No glasses. Hill climb Saturday. Trying to figure out if I have the hand positions to win.

just no-hand it. hold the cast above your head and it'll reduce the sweat collecting in there too

Hardcore! This is how I'm going to assume it went down with the coach helping out (go to 2:50):

I only took off a couple of inches. no big really. just stopped it from digging into my upper forearm, and gave me a bit more rotation.

I was pretty excited about hitting 152 (was 188 in Sept) which is my lightest weight as a cyclist ever. Than I look on Strava where a teammate took a pic of me and I look straight up pregnant. I'm not even sure how that's possible but its pretty damn depressing. I think I can lose 6 more, but I already look pretty damn good and can double as an Avenger (not Thor, or the Hulk, or Captain America but definitely Ironman or that Spiderman kid or the dude with an eye patch).

I look back at photos from years ago when I was in the 150s. I was winning a ton of races then too. But I look positively pregnant through today's eyes. That was 20 something pounds ago.

At 5'7" I'm not sure I can get down to the 130's; plus I still have some upper body mass (aka not fat) I would like (or more specifically my wife wants) to retain. The good thing is I don't bulk. In my 20's I could bench 300+ while weighing 150 and running a 5k in the 16's.

I'm 5'9" and 155. I do pushups, pullups and ab work 2-3 days/week to stay well rounded and overall healthy, don't really want to lose that. I also have 5+ lbs (maybe 10) by my estimation of pizza, cookies and beer surrounding my midsection. It would be cool to lose that, but I also enjoy my lifestyle.

300 w FTP and 150 lbs has been a target of mine for a while. Granted I'm not an FTP-style or big aerobic engine, so that's actually a lot considering the AWC that I'm capable of. Right now I'm at 295 w FTP and 155 lbs; not sure I'll hit my target this year. But hey, that's what goals are for - to give me something to aim towards as I'm getting fit in the pre and early season.

Idk 130s seems reasonable for 5-7

I'm 5-10 and cant seem to sustain less than 160, but I have gone below 150... But I just bounce back up. I'm 20 lbs less muscle than I used to be but the rest just lingers indefinitely. I guess its a good problem to have...? I mean I'm not buff by previous standards but I at least still have pecs and even abs if I flex lol! Been considering focusing more on all round strength cuz that was when my ftp and sprint were highest. And its fun to be able to do flags and levers on random objects.

We'll see. I'm going to hit 146 and see what I look like there, maybe even do a DEXA scan. I don't see it as hitting a weight number but hitting my optimal build. 146 is my safe guess, but it may be lower.

In 2015 at 152 I was definitely toner. After 2 years of injury and inactivity, I've lost some muscle mass. Back then I was maybe at 12% and today around 16%? (this is going off pics off the internet). Recovering some of that in the legs (which are noticeably weaker) is a priority. While my FTP has never been better everything under 30 seconds is meh. My short game is a mess right now.

I think 130s is totally doable at that height. If you're carrying a lot of upper body muscle, that may need to atrophy a bit to make it reachable. I've been 145-150 this season at 5'9" and definitely not as lean as I could be, no six pack, not super chiseled or anything. I think the lightest I could race at is probably 135-138, but I find it really hard to balance adequate fueling for workouts and losing weight. It's way easier for me to overshoot by a litte and feel good during workouts than to find the right balance needed to have a slow decrease in weight.
