Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

contis here as well. But that being said they came on the bike, and I wouldn’t know any better. The gravel bike I have (borrowed) has contis as well.

My Zwift meetup was so-so. I could only convince one other rider to join me at 7AM, most of my friends wanted a later start.

My fellow rider could not figure out Discord chat so I could not talk to him. Also, his power curve was different from mine. We would hit a 10% hill and my power would stay the same with same effort (say 2.2 W/Kg). But his would go from 2W/Kg to 4W/Kg and gap me in a few seconds. Sad!

If I had an indoor trainer than I would most likely have ZWIFT and then I would join you.

Zwift is decent but you need a “smart trainer” to get the best experience. Cost is $500+ so that’s a major barrier to entry.

Maybe some day we can have an Addiction Zwift ride. I suspect I will get droped when patentcad dials his ebike up to 400w.

Indoor trainer is in the longer term plan. First new bike however. And I hope the price of that wahoo fully integrated bike trainer goes down. The way I see it, buying another bike for indoors could turn just as costly. My current bike will be dead before then I fear.

How are these compared to your racier tires? I'm tempted to get them to run in the spring, when our roads are still pretty gritty and gross, but I'm also tempted to say, "screw it - life is too short - run the more fun stuff (like Corsas or the new Schwalbe Pro1)."

Oh, great. Another venue where my sickly, aging butt can get kicked.

I’ll stick to FulGaz or Rouvy where I can ride without embarrassment.

I expect you will do fine. I am happy to cruise at 2-ish W/Kg. Not that fast.

I could probably hang on the flats, but uphill 2 w/kg is really pushing it for me. Maybe on a course with not too much climbing. I really need to start fixing my diet now that I am just over one month back on the bike. Trying to fix one habit at a time.

You can draft me uphill and I will draft you downhill. Win-win!

Over the last 6 months, despite losing weight, my performance has been going downhill. I surmise it’s health related but who knows? Anyway, 2 W/Kg is about my max over any time period.

They are great as an endurance tire. I rarely flat, no matter how much I wished for one on my week 3 endurance rides. sbxx knows the fellow that actually raced crits on them, because he liked blue tires.

If you're open to my feedback, they came on my S1. After the first flat, which didn't take long, I swapped them for the GP4000S (not the II, which hadn't been released). That was an obvious-enough upgrade that it's what turned me into a Conti-booster.

I am able to use the quote function to see the pics, which otherwise don't show up, but not to reply to the post.
Tires make the ride, IME. I have yet to try latex tubes I also drank the Conti kool aid, but not until there were close-out priced. I wouldn't mind scoring some more to keep in reserve. In the Vittoria realm, I very much like Open Pavès, which I also have only gotten on close-out. I was actually shocked at the superbe ride produced by the gp4000, despite the popularity. The regular price, however, would have prevented my ever trying them.
