1982 Trek 710 frameset 22.5 framesize

Catalogs on line all detail geometry. Full Reynolds 531, fork and frame.

I picked this up as a frameset and built it up as a Sport Tourer. Just did a faceoff between the 710 and my Nigel Dean World Tour. The Nigel Dean won, so this one needs to go!

It had some surface rust on the lugs I treated it and it’s ready for careful touch up. Price reflects paint not perfect although most of it is good. Small ding on the chain stay behind the drive side crank. Not serious and will not show once crank is in place.

$145 plus $10 pack plus actual postage. I’ll post pics when I get home.

Serial number 22973.

Interested (not 100% ready for a purchase but trying to convince myself), and just sent a PM!

EDIT: My sensibility is getting the better of me. I am out. GLWS!

To estimate shipping figure a 20 pound box, 24-9-42 which is 108 overall. I drop off at Fed Ex but figure $5 extra for residential delivery on your end.

I'm out. Thanks for replying so quickly.

But for better or for worse I ended up winning an eBay auction for a somewhat similar frame so need to hold off on this Trek.

I had one of those, exact same year/size/color. Bought it new in '83 for $225 and built it w/ Campy NR, Brooks, Cinelli, light clinchers. Great all-rounder. Kinda tempted to buy this one just for nostalgia's sake, but my budget does not allow me to indulge such whimsies.

What was the difference between the 710 and the 720?

Isn't the 720 a touring frame with cantilever brake studs?

Not in 1982. It's a touring bike with long chain stays but no cantilevers.

Anything Trek of that era with X20 desigation is a touring model. I am awaiting correction from someone who assembled more Treks than I did in 3,2,1.....

In '83; the '82 is the odd model as it was built around 700c wheels. Trek went to 27 inch in 1983.
