Greetings from Dallas, Texas
I ride daily around White Rock Lake and the surrounding area on a Felt FC. My Felt keeps me healthy and sane. It's the best bicycle I've ever owned.

Welcome to Bikeforums. When my daughter lived near White Rock Lake years ago I would ride there when we visited. I suspected it has changed since then.

Hi Texbiker, how many years ago? The City has upgraded many paths and dredged the lake. The spillway area was redone after flood damage one year. More bike paths are currently being constructed.

It was probably in 1990's. The ride around the lake had some rough pavement in spots and below the dam was not that great.

Many upgrades since then. There are still a few of those old rough paths around but you can easily avoid them. Below the dam they did a complete makeover after an epic flood did damage. You can now take a bike path from WRL to Deep Elum and then head into into downtown on the streets. It's all good and nice to have close by. There are many parts of Dallas where you don't want to ride. It's simply not safe.
