Just an interesting mtb. imho

A reflective article into a very cool mtb with a brief history of the bike/owner.

With excellent pics.

Super cool bike. I've never seen one of those stems before but it's an awesome design aesthetically, very similar to the MTB cranks.

John Watson is an awesome photographer and I'm glad he is spending the time shooting old bikes as well as new. I wish his reporting had a little more historical fact-checking at times, as I've seen some sloppy errors, but the site is still a vital resource for getting young people a glimpse at the evolution of these bikes.

That stem is super sweet. So is the crank.

Heck, I like the whole package. I've been getting back into mtbs over the last 3-4 years and some of these older rides are as interesting as vintage road bikes were to me.

I have a short list of older vintage mtbs that I will pick up instantly if offered at a decent price. I have hundreds of miles of trails up at the cabin that are just perfect for these gems.

But I dig the new hardware as well. I have my Blackborow and SB5 that cover the new performance features really well.

As for John, I follow his site daily. His coverage of gravel, adventure and bike camping is spot on and where I'm at right now.

Also, his race coverage of the tour divide is great and the photos (Rue's) make it all come alive.
