Bike Shop Etiquette Question

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I once went to pick up my bike after a tune-up to find they’d mounted new tires on there.

Only thing was, I hadn’t asked them to swap out the ratty, old tires even though the bike could have used some new rubber.

I was broke as heck and the tune-up was probably more’n I should have spent but this was from back before I started doing my own wrenching and the bike really needed the work. I tried to explain that I had not requested new tires be put on there and that there must have been some sort of mistake or mis-communication.

They assured me there was no mistake, held the door open for me and sent me on my way.

I don’t give them a hard time when they forget to adjust the seatpost height.
