Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

This was part of the reason I built my new wheels with Hope hubs. Love the King stuff, but getting tired of seeing it so much.

R45 hubs sound good, but I really wish they were louder. They're also the only King branded thing on my bike, so its ok in terms of overbearing decals and logos

Thanks! I've only had it for a year and a half but I can tell it's going to be my main road bike for a long time. Fantastic all-arounder road bike, and I can keep up with the carbon crowd.

There is a good reason one sees King components everywhere.

Spendy yes, but also made in the first world to a very high quality standard.

It's not an issue of commonness. It's an issue of too many garish logos. (yes, they do offer sotto voce options now)

couple new geared bikes this year:

powered by tom ritchey's mustache by yummygooey, on Flickr

swift campout v0.1 by yummygooey, on Flickr

some iterations of an older bike:

oregon outback rig v0.1 by yummygooey, on Flickr

bq unmeeting 2015 by yummygooey, on Flickr

each bike has changed a bit since the photos and there are some additional changes planned, but you get the idea.

The Cane Creek factory is in Asheville, NC. The 110 series headsets are comparable in quality (and price) to King.

Even with sotto voce, the choice for me was purely based on looks. The little lizard and Cane Creek logo are barely noticeable. Just a personal choice, that's all. To each his own.

They are awesome, no question. But, so are some other companies, like Hope.
