The winning run doesn't have all the exciting crash footage but watching Damien Oton ride is breathtaking.

First part vaguely reminds me of a drive down the Lodge Freeway in Detroit following a blizzard / ics storm, before it was plowed/salted, in my 1980 Dodge Omni, ca. 1989.

That is absolutely wild.
It would be a beautiful place for a Sunday afternoon ride. But, the mass-start ride in the snow is just bonkers.
Definitely best to be either way up front, or way off the back.

If you look closely at the second video, the winner is in 12th or 15th spot or something like that just after the start. He lets others go, some of whom pass him really fast, knowing that they are going to blow up or crash out.
He is also saving his strength and conserves energy. It is a long, demanding ride in spite of being downhill. At one point, after he has taken the lead, he looks back and sees nobody. He has dropped the entire field, all the people who were riding out of control at the top.

How much of an adrenaline rush is he getting as he keeps getting buzzed by the helicopter? It takes awhile for him to relax out of that hyper focus until I think he realizes he's in a really good position, due to the chopper. Crazy awesome focus.
