neat on all the train travel, must have been nice just seeing the countryside on all the train parts as well.
I did a lot of professional slide scanning, as we were still shooting film at the beginning of the transition of film to digi, so the 2 1/4 final would be scanned for the client, and also I scanned a lot of 35mm slides for image bank and other work use, so just like darkroom room (I worked for many years as a professional printer) I got better at scanning and getting the best out of an image.
This was all at the same time of getting more proficient with photoshop, as it was all happening at the same time, so just got better and better and learned new tricks to go into the bag of tricks for scanning (just as in the b+w world of developing film and printing, one got better over time and would get more out of a neg than earlier in your printing career).

Doug, that's such a pretty bridge isn't it? I would have thought Europe because of the thoughtfulness that went into the visual design. Cheers, have a good Sunday.

Well these probably don't qualify as bike trip photos but it was unquestionably the most exciting flight I've ever had to the start of a bike trip. I spent Nov-Feb of '91-'92 at a job at McMurdo Station Antarctica. I had my bike in storage at the Christchurch NZ airport for travel afterwards. Here's the flight to the start of a six week tour...

February departure from Willy Field, McMurdo Station Antarctica ^

Transantarctic Mountains from C130 ^

No locks on these cockpit doors, just walk right in. Gosh, the pilot's using a paper map to find the way out of Antarctica! ^

Another shot from port hole window ^

And finally here's the required bike pic at Christchurch NZ ^

Very neat experience there Bob. Nice Herc shot. Funny to think when you started biking in NZ I was getting plans sorted out for my first trip to France for that June. So long ago....

Thanks DJ. For some reason the two window shots periodically distort then pop back into focus, at least on my screen.

Heh!.... Looks like the pilot has a cue sheet up on the dash also. He must be a cyclist Yep, if you zoom you can read "Turn 180 degrees at Elephant Island"

re popping in and out of focus, that's because the slide projector bulb is heating up the film, and the curve of the slide pops, don't worry, the autofocus lens will compensate. (I can't be the only one who remembers this with slide projections)

good ol cue sheets, they still are useful.
must have been noisy as all get out in a Hercules.

I'd been riding behind my daughter, and thinking about how to get a picture of the shirt she earned by running a winter marathon in Montana. Then my wife and daughters, known collectively as "the girls", stopped to look at a humorous sign in a small French city.

I wish someone wold tell me the eaisest way to post a photo without

that ugly trashyourphotosbucket water mark

sometimes the ugly water mark is already there

sometimes the ugly water mark creeps in after a day or two

lets see what happens next

I bet some smart person knows how to put nice clean photos on the web just right

It is just a little foggy to me'

Photo hosting and posting, that is the question¿?¿

Imgur is good. After you upload a photo, right click on it, and go 'open image in new tab'. Then you can just paste that url in the 'paste a file url' box here, to get a higher resolution image.
People can then right click on the image in bikeforums and go 'open image in new tab' and see the higher resolution.

https://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/
is a handy tool for resizing your photos and compressing them a little, it can do batches just from the context menu (right click on them - resize image)

I have a flicker account from years ago, that I do not use. One of two choices, I have the free account and not the paid account, or I never learned how to use it properly. For one reason, it does not let me post photos, it just shows little thumbnails

thanks for the answer.

I posted a couple of touring photos from many years ago, so as not to ruin the photo thread with confusion chit chat.

First trip to Mexico, left that bike in La Paz, with a cracked fork. Like a good horse, it made it to the central square before it died.

First trip on the sierra cascade route. Had to give that old bike away, as I could not sell it. $400, $300, $200, $100, free

it
Old bike to park in the woods and go hiking, (left that one in Guatemala, Think they will give it back, when I show up only one year late?)

Please note: reflective tape could save your butt, best upgrade you can get is reflectivbe tape

Well this flicker image is a practice try, edit in.

Just post the photos directly to bikeforums. When posting, click the image icon and browse your device or drag and drop.

Yes we can see it.

FWIW, I use flickr and this is how it works for me:

In flickr select and click on a picture you want to share from your photostream

Once on the picture page select and click on this "share" icon

It will open up this where you can select the size of picture to share (1). Then click and copy that url (2)

Then paste it into the text body where you want

After that go advanced and preview the post. You should see the pics.
If you do not want the link back to your whole flickr album, delete the blue url code that appears just after the picture once you have previewed it. That way the pic shows but the link to flickr does not.

Yessir, in both locations. It looks like that Sasquatch-looking dude wants to ride, but hasn't figured out the pedals yet. 🤔😉
I myself think uploading directly to the forum is far easier, as someone else said earlier. You just have the old way stuck in your head yet. 😁😉

I just stopped to heat some water on Mr squatch's fire,
he said the indians could teach me how to make a better cup of coffee.

Well, I made it up to Ash Fork, believe it or not. And yes, it "kinda" is a fork in the road, where route 89 connects with route 40, aka Old Route 66, in certain areas. But I see they separate, at Seligman, with far less towns along the way on 40. OK for a car, but I'll stick with 66, for a better chance of survival (able to replenish water & such)
. 🤔😉
