Yeah, funny about the daytime rear flasher. It seems to get me incrementally more room too. My take is the thing sort of says "caution" and people react instinctively...most of the time. Did not work for one obviously intentional punish-pass on an empty 4-lane road last week. Hoo-boy.

Keep an eye on the back door if possible, especially on fast roads.

I have found that it is easier to see oncoming traffic at night so for drivers, it is an easier decision process.
I have had some close calls at night though too but certainly less than during the day.
