Retired bike rider

Greetings Guys & Gals; My bike riding days are over (sport bikes) & have been for a few years now. I joined the forum mainly to sell my custom Colin Laing bike. Built during the year of 1976. I believe it was one of the earliest made in the USA. In the near future I'll post pictures in the for sale area. As all the pictures I have are slides or paper, no digital as of yet. To say I'm anal is an understatement, so that being said when you see the pictures you will understand. It has one scratch otherwise near perfect. I'm looking forward to corresponding with you all. Thanks for having me & to the people who make this forum possible Bob Jr.
PS: I also have a brand New set of 531 tubes!

A Relic from the past.

Good Evening Guys; Obed7, I'm sorry if didn't word my intro & objective very well. Since I'm out of the stream & have been for at least the last 12+ years I don't have much that I can contribute to this time period. I'm a relic from the past, like when you had to disassemble your bike and grease the bearings often. I was a Bike Nashbar Installer at the end (late 80's) of my bike days. I would purchase frames for customers and assemble a complete bike for them. I did this for 10+ years, mid 70's through the late 80's. As cup & cone bearings & fancy steel frames disappeared I became a dinosaur! My customer base either got too old & some are dead now or switched to electric motor (sealed) bearing bikes. And of course the fancy steel frames disappeared too. I still got all the tools, nearly useless these days, unless you happen to own a cup & cone bike. When I knew that I wouldn't be able to ride the Laing any longer, I greased the chrome stays and oiled with spray grease the inside of the tubes. That's something (sprayed inside the tubes) I normally did on an annual bias to all bikes. After I posted earlier today, I went down stairs to look for the serial #, too dark wrong angle. As walked over to it, I was admitting to myself that I'm too old, that my time has past. It was a wonderful bike to ride, many fantastic memories. I'll be tear'in up, if I don't shut up, Bob Jr.

Greetings Guys; I'm tearin' up again, just reading my past post. I'm trying to find the fella that posted pictures of my bike. I'd like to thank him & wounder how he was able to get my pictures & post them. Being tech challenged, I don't know how to do that! Later, Ole' Bob.
Ps: Working on 10, maybe tomorrow? As I only get 5 per day?

Bob, Jr. Hang in there with us awhile. Lots of us older riders here. You might get some good suggestions to keep riding. That includes recumbents, trikes and step throughs. Even if you don’t ride, the forums are fun and you likely have lots of experiences to share.
