Pinarello
I bought this last year and hung it up. The guy that sold it too me bought it at a garage sale for $5 in Lansing. He said he didn't know bikes but knew it was good. It's sweet! Full campagnolo super record gruppo. The only down side is the frame, its in bad shape. I know it Columbus SL because it had exterior cable guides, but it's painted chrome. The serial number is X-375, the year on the derailleur is 84. I think treviso, or super record special, thoughts?

Nice bike. Should be a great rider.
Not sure what you paid for it, but it sounds like you got it cheap. If so, its certainly worth putting some money into it, if it fits, and you like the ride. Full-on paint and decals are not out of the question for this bike IMHO.

That should clean up nicely! Resist the temptation of removing the paint to expose the chrome. The chrome applied under paint is not smooth and is not very presentable. The missing decals are not unusual, they self destructed on most of these. Replacement decals are available. What are you restoration plans?

Awesome, that will be a great project.
Can't quite see - is the front derailleur braze-on or clamp mount? (Edit: now on bigger screen, can see it's braze-on.)
The serial number is the earlier format, so I was going to say early 80's, but the dual bottle mounts and pump peg suggest it's a bit later. So I'll sit on the fence and say mid 80's Treviso. (Or Super Record Special, there didn't appear to be much difference between the two frames.) Is there any decal residue on the top tube just back from the head tube that may indicate the model?
That's not an indication of the tubing type. I've got an SLX Montello with external cable guides. Yours is most likely SL though.

The rear derailleur says 84, I'm not sure if they made treviso in painted chrome. I plan on keeping the bike, getting it on the road again.

Yeah they did, well, to an extent. The Treviso typically had the drive side chainstay and seat stay caps chrome, which meant the rear triangle was chromed under the paint. The amount of exposed chrome varies a lot though - none, single chainstay, both chainstays, rear triangle...

I have an '84/early '85 SL Pinarello. unfortunately, non-original fork. Serial # D 933.
Below link to '85 catalog, Shows both Treviso and Record frameset as being SL tubeset.
Treviso called full race bike, Record 'a winning tradition'.-- but no geo chart listed.
I got mine fairly recently and have not researched serial numbers.
A pic of my paint scheme is the last image - from Gita, which shows a frame with internal cable routing that mine does not have.
I need to learn more.

Don't bother, they won't tell you much.
X### = <1985
XX### = 1985-1987
#X ### = 1987 - 1989
X### = 1990 - ?
But there were always exceptions and contradictions.

Steel IS Real
Sweet find! I stripped my 1985 Treviso down to the chrome and painted with automotive base + acrylic enamel clear. decals were about $30 or so. Should make for a really really nice bike if you undertake the restoration. The SR gruppo alone is drool worthy.

Looks to me that you need very little work on the paint (mostly the bottom bracket?) and chrome. That beauty has only one original paint job and if you can get the BB and other spots matched up that would be good value but that is always a challenge when you don't have a simple color match. You will have a great ride so go slow and enjoy the restoration.
