Anyone have a 1983 Tange Tubed Schwinn?

Anyone have a 1983 Schwinn Super Sport or Voyageur with Tange tubing? I need to verify that the attached pic of the decal on my bike is correct. Also, did the 1983 Super Sport come with the braze-ons for a rear rack like the Voyageur did?

It's hard to read the decal on your photo, but I have a 1984 Schwinn Voyageur. The decal is black and red with silver and gold lettering and it reads:
Champion
No. 2 Extra
Chrome Molyboden Steel
Butted Tubes
Tange Industries Ltd.

Below that sticker is another one that reads:
Made in Japan for
Schwinn Bicycle Company

I have a 1981 super sport that has a similar decal in what appears to be the same colors. As the previous reply noted, the label lists it as NO.2 but not extra. From what the catalogs describe the super sport as having that blue color in years 1981 and 1982

I have what I believe is a 1982 SS touring model. It has braze-ons for a rack and water bottles, and eyelets on the dropouts (double front). The sticker is Tange #2. Seems odd that yours says Motocross, but I'm no Tange expert.
[edit] btw, Panasonic made the Japanese Schwinns of this era, which are highly regarded. You should check out this recent thread, if you haven't already done so.

Interesting, never seen the Tange Schwinns before? The lowest 80's SS I own is an 85 and is Columbus Tenax with no rack/fender braze ons. I guess I have seen the earlier 4130 models, and then Columbus and none in between. I would like to find one of these! Some of my favorite bikes have been made from Tange Champion 2!,,,,BD

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I've been away from my computer for a few days. I have an 83 Super Sport with the following decal.

I don't know if the brazeons show up in the full picture or not, but there is one, so its not a full touring set up, but can handle a rack.
Hope this helps.

Looks like no Braze-ons for the rear rack attachment for a 1983 Super Sport like my frame has so I will settle on calling my bike a 1983 Schwinn Voyageur (Frame build date)...put together in 1985 (head badge date) with 1981 Super Sport parts (crankset, hubs & rims, derailleurs, racks).

Here is the Tange Motocross decal on a 1983 Panasonic DX-4000 with a frame serial number 1 month later than mine:
https://panabike.s-cars.org/?p=68
So looks like another Tange Tubeset (stronger for touring?) was used in 1983.

Thanks for the help Forum.

Another 1983 Voyageur W/ Tange Champion MOTOCROSS Butted Tubes just sold on EBAY:
https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=270388776273
Head Badge: 0453 (14 Feb, 1983) Serial Number: 3D16016 ((April 1983))

I am not alone with my TANGE Champion Motocross Tubing. I wonder what the difference between #2 and the Motocross is. Couldn't be too much I suspect.
