Raleigh-made Phillips
For those of you who know something about a Raleigh-made Phillips English 3-speed from the 60's - 70's, I'd like to know what the original equipment saddle might have been on this machine? I'm not sure of the date of my bike and the serial number is very hard to read without scratching away paint (which I don't want to do). From what I can see, it appears to be the following: o 7662U o . It probably wasn't a great bike in its time (department store bike?), so I'd be surprised if it came with a B72 Brooks saddle. When I acquired the bike in September, it had a very cheap Schwinn racing saddle in place. Probably not original!

Check the rear hub for a better idea of the dating. The saddle could have been a B-72 or a vinyl mattress saddle from the factory. An owner could also have upgraded to a B67 or a B73 or B33 but I think the last two would have been unlikely.

Here is a picture of my 1965 with the original saddle. It was a nasty thing that I don't wish on anyones butt.
It has a B66 now, and everything is good.

I have two 1970 Raleigh made Phillips and they have a black and white vinyl saddle like the one pictured above. As Kevinsubaru says, it is a nasty cheap thing. I intend to replace it with a Brooks B66 or B67, when I get around to it.
