Sprint 9000, if OEM, would place it 1987-1990. However, there was no steel framed Allez model in 1990, so that eliminates one year. The serial number may tell us the exact frame manufacture date.

By searching it looks to be a 1987. Would these be made in Japan?

I believe all but the one's made by David Tesch were made in Japan from tubing spec'ed by and with much input from some of if not the best in the business, Merz, DiNucci, Neenan, Konno who made his and others combined with Sinyard's ruthless business acumen produced some of the best production frames of the era at a very good value.

I went back and checked SBI advertising for 1987-1989. While I couldn't find any Allez advertising for 1988 or 1989 the graphics on the Sirrus and ATB models were drastically different than the subject bicycle. However, other than the base colour, it's a perfect match for the 1987 Specialized Allez SE advertisement. Given the era, it's almost certainly Japanese manufacture. The serial number may allow us to determine the manufacturer and exact date.

Condition appears to be fair to good and 1st generation Accushift is not without its issues. It will need an overhaul and most of the consumables will likely need replacing. Personally, I wouldn't pay over $200 and ideally I'd like to get it for ~$150. FYI, original MSRP was $549.95 US.

If it was made in Taiwan, then it should be a Giant manufactured frame.
