Kool Stop Cross Pads w/ Avid Shorty Ultimates

Anyone have any luck mounting the Kool Stop Cross pads to Avid Shorty Ultimates in a narrow stance? Can't seem to make them fit in narrow stance, only in wide stance. Do I need to go with one of the other post types that Kool Stop offers?

I do have a pair of Supra pads/shoes working with a set of Shorty 6 and they work great.

Sorry, I don't know what the difference between the Shorty and your Ultimate be on the narrow setting. The pic on the website looks as if it wouldn't be a lot different.

looks like I"m gonna need the dura type pads. I ended up just switching out some swissstop pads I had with the cross dual compound pads I bought and now they fit.

also, looks like the newer version of the ultimates don't have the same problem, the older version needs the shorter brake post though.

The Kool Stop site is about as bad as I've seen to try and figure out which of their products to order for your calipers. It seems they could have an application guide for customers to use. Not that they need every off the wall caliper made for six months, thirty years ago, but Avid calipers don't seem to far out of line, along with Tektro, FSA, Shimano and others.

I would't worry. I haven't used SwissStops but every Kool Stop thread has someone posting that they are at least as good, if not better.

I just changed my factory Avid pads because of the horrible squeal, despite a few attempts at setting toe-in. The Kool Stops got rid of every bit of the noise on the first shot.
