Cinelli Cork Bar Tape
Probably my favorite bar tape, now available in "Natural" cork. I really like it.
I'm a terrible bar tape-er. Keeping the tension even and the wind level seems to be a continuing challenge for me. That said, this came out very well.

Their cork tape was actually much better, before they started making them in Taiwan.
The Cork tape they now sell does not have as thin an edge taper as they did originally, this resulting in a lumpy bumpy look. The old tape had a smoother feel and look over the bars with very minimal bumps between each turn of tape. Every time I need to retape my bars with Cinelli cork tape, I always try to hunt down NOS tape with the thinner taper. Unfortunately, they are getting harder and harder to find.

Yeah, I tried their tape, didn’t like the C logo throughout, nor the bumpy look. Originally did my TX900 with Cinelli cork, as in the pic, have since replaced it with Benotto.

Nashbar used to carry a rubberized type tape with a pebble texture that was perfect IMO. Just the right amount of grip and and stretch. Best of all it was $9.99. Since the re-structure they haven't had it back that I've seen. I'm still on the lookout for the next go-to and refuse to pay ridiculous prices. Lots of non-taper, non-stretch garbage out there. And unless someone wants to pay me, my bike isn't a billboard.

The old (like 5 years ago) Bontrager brown gel cork tape looked really cool, but they changed it- since then I've been looking for a substitute. This bike is now wrapped with Brooks microfiber tape- and I'm pretty ambivalent about it. There's some Brooks leather stuff on the way- but I really like the feel of the gel-cork tape.

you are right to be suspicious. All manner of stuff is being shamelessly knocked off "over there".
I recently bought a "Ritchey" seatpost off eboy, $29 buck, "from China". It had real shiny carbon. However, on installation, it was the cheapest POS I've seen in a while. Nt Wrth Sht.
It may be that the knockoff products come out of the same factory / mold as the "real deal". In this particular case however, the item was junk. Failed on installation.

OP if you really want something hard to do try Newbaums' cloth bar tape , but the lumps will go away .
