Chain sizing problem
I fitted this 8 spd nexus hub on an old road frame and found that if i remove two more links from the chain it will be too short..the hub axle would be on the end of the dropout, ideally it should be in the middle, yeah?
I've ridden it this way ..pulled back far as it goes & chain tension is good, but... i tried to fit mudguards & it just doesn't work like that.
One more chain link removed would be spot on, but ya gotta remove two then insert the master link
any ideas?
Cheers

Even if i don't bother with mudguards i believe there should be some adjustment left

Removing 2 more links shouldn‘t bring it to the end of the drop out from your current pos.
You can go as far as this without any problems.

I believe you're right there, roughly measuring it... it should be in the same position as yours.
Curious though, how many teeth you running at the front and the rear?

The axle will need to be able to reposition just about 1/2" away from the "longer chain" point. However there are chain links that are called a "Half Link", male on one end and female on the other end. Remove the pair of links as you asked about and install this half link. See below. Andy
