Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Unidentified Nike shoes.

I got a pair of cycling shoes thrown into the pot when I bought my new (but used) bike.

I don't need another pair so I'm going to throw them up on craigslist. Problem is, I have no idea what they are or what they were worth new or now (if anything). Can someone help identify them?

They are Nike (which incidentally does not have much of a cycling website) and I know they are a year or two old. Carbon soles...pretty comfy.

They come with LOOK PP396 pedals/cleats (for once, LOOK's aggressive branding comes in handy). Again, any idea what a fair price would be to sell them for (or should I throw them in with the shoes)?

They kind of look like Poggios. Very similar to Lance's shoes, but without the ratcheting system and color scheme. The mesh, leather dimpling, and other design features are similar.

Google 'Nike Poggio' to see if you can find some similar pics.

edit: Poggio has a few generations out...2 and 3 look nothing like this...it may be the 1st generation.

call nike customer service, and give them the model number on the tag inside the shoe (if its not worn out), they should be able to help out.

Good luck.

Yeah. I think they are Altea IIs.

Looks like they were in the 100$ range. Would 25$ (Can) be too much?

Put on eBay and you will be surprised what people will pay. Make sure you tell them this is something like what Lance wore
