Need Technical Help

Does anyone know where I can find any info on how to replace shifters and install new ones, changing components, and fine tuning.
What I am doing (shudder....) is building my own tri bike and am trying to find out how to install the cables, etc... I have a trek 1.2 and am getting ready to replace the brifters with bar end shifters and the reverse brake levers. I dont think it should be that tough.. all the cables are there.. just need to run them to the correct spots and fine tune.

first stop was sheldon brown, didnt really find a whole lot. Any other help would be great.

Why do you want to build your own bike? What bike tools do you have right now?

You'll need new cables and cable housings. They will come with the new shifters, if Shimano.
