just moved to center city and wanted to say i have never seen so many fixies and ss bikes. seems like everyone rides one or the other round here. question to anyone from philly - is there a spot where ppl meet up (like in central park old skool area) and practice tricks and such?

havent seen anyone practicing anything.... but anytime I have been out with other fixie riders we usually meet up by the Giant Clothespin by City Hall, or Rittenhouse Square... other than that you will find a lot of fixies outside of McGlinchys, Bob and Barbaras, the Tritone Bar.... and well, you will just see them up and down broad st during the day because of all the messengers and art students.

Welcome to Philly.... what are you riding? I will look out for your bike.

heres a thread about fixie group rides in philly
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ght=group+ride

and if you read about half way down i posted a link to the philly bike club and bicycle coalition. i'm not a fixie rider(atleast not yet ) but maybe they would be helpful.

They're probably going around Manayunk to avoid the dirt trail there and picking up the Schulkyl River Trail again after Manayunk when it turns back to pavement.

Nah, Umbria street is the dirt-trail bypass. More likely theyre just headed up the Ridge to get home.

thats funny, my girlfriend and I have started doing the loop a few times a week to prepare for the MS ride... I am just waiting on the xray resuts to make sure my kneecap is not fractured (I dont want to do more damage to it by not resting) and as soon as i get the word its ok to ride, I will be out there again. She decided to use the singlespeed I built for her as her MS bike.... even though it will mean that she will probably be at the back of the pack... oh well.

I am in the same boat, so so busy lately.... ugh... but I am definitly up for a ride.
