I think the bike rider looks like it's his first day on a bike.

I would have never bought a glorified VW anyway.

The guy on the Segway is funny.

Typical. They're trying to sell cars and perpetuate the public's dependence on petroleum products. Of course they're going to make others look like dorks. Drive a quick, nimble, fun machine, not suffer trying to do something else.

Commuting on a near empty rural road on a bright sunny day is sure different than commuting on a crowded city sidewalk or on a busy city street in a rain storm, ain't it?

Exactly what I thought. I wonder how they're going to change my commute to that if I buy an Audi.

I think the dude on a bike is going to get himself killed.
The bus is just plain nasty.
The guy on a segway is going nowhere fast.
While the Audi has an awesome sun filled commute to somewhere gorgeous where he passes poor saps in veggie powered volvos unsafely in an attempt to prove his dominance on the roadway.
So...we all need audis. What a wonderful world it would be if everyone drove an Audi.

I drive an Audi. Does that make me awesome? It's currently got a bike in the back because I multi-modal commuted yesterday (first 200 miles by car, the last 3.5, from the hotel to the client site, by bike). Of course my Audi is an A6, I drive it at speeds closer to the Volvo to extract every last mile from my precious tank of fuel, and I have a lot more fun on the bike, but there you go.

How fast does the Audi move in the same traffic as the bus and the same weather as the cyclist? Or the same sidewalk as the segway?

You are missing the point. When you are driving an Audi you won't be in the same situations simply due to your own awesomeness.

Ditto, the guy on the bike looks like he still needs training wheels.
Is it just me, or did the Audi pass on a blind curve?

where the hell is there a road like that that has a dashed passing permitted center line on the approach (0:16) and thru (0:22) a sharp corner like that.

video-shopped so a legal pass could be shown on a nice corner?

The text of the ad is exactly correct. ("Everyone's trying to do their part. Some just have more fun doing it.") They just put that slogan with the wrong mode of commute.

As I sit here staring into the face of six months of rain (seems to have started this week), I can tell you that I honestly enjoy biking in the cold and rain much more than driving in it. And, of course, when it's sunny and warm, there's no contest.

Anyway, the dude with the Audi obviously lives a long way from work, otherwise he wouldn't be on that kind of road. If he really wanted to do his part he'd buy a house closer to his workplace or get a job closer to home.

instead of "Everyone's trying to do their part. Some just have more fun doing it."

it should read "Everyone's doing their part. Some just don't give a fat rat's ass."

Audi - Everyone's trying to do their part. And we're trying to prevent that.

My response in this thread. Summary:

"Many people are trying to do their part." [clip of a Prius with a bumper sticker saying "My other car is an SUV."]
"Some people just have more fun doing it." [clip of a cyclist on a downhill run.]
"Some people actually are zero-emissions machines. [clip of a cyclist spinning, keeping up with traffic in a city]
"Some people have become their own solution." [before and after clips of a Stormcrowesque figure ]

A line at the end of the ad might say something like, "While more efficient cars can reduce our dependence on foreign oil, only by cycling can you do your part to eliminate it. Try cycling. For a cleaner, greener, leaner America."

[cut to company logo... then fade out]

I certainly can't claim to be a zero-emission machine. Sometimes you really don't want to be drafting me.

I used to have an A4 wagon. Loved that car. Women wanted me and men wanted to be me. Now I drive a minivan, so my life is essentially over. Thanks for posting that ad to rub my nose in it.

It not so much that we hate the car; I think the strong reaction comes from the negative depiction of commuters that are more green that the Audi (especially the cyclist). I'm not the hater, the guy who made the ad for Audi is.

Oh, wait. This has nothing to do with the car, but with the marketing of it, which panders to the soft-bellied masses and their vapid stereotypes.

Maybe the car is awesome, but since it's an Audi, and a crossover, I wouln't have shopped it anyway. Now there's just one more reason not to go there.
