Dallas - this Thursday Sept 16- TX Tough Grand Prix pro criterium

Big-time American Pro Criterium racing comes to Dallas - It's the finale / championship of the USA Crits Pro Series.

This is a great event, thousands of spectators, jumbotrons, beer gardens, Channel 8 doing live video, if you are at all a fan of bicycles, bike racing, or just fun events, come on down.

Come see why American crit riders are the best in the world at this discipline.

I will be racing the 'B' race - cat 2/3 starts at 5:30 pm, then the Pro's go at 6:40pm.

Location: American Airlines Center, downtown Dallas

Time: 5:30 for the amateurs, 6:40 for the Pro's.

This is a great event that needs the support of the D/FW cycling community. The last two years this has been an exciting and fun event and I can't wait for Thursday! Grab your friends, coworkers and neighbors. It has taken a lot of hard work to bring this event to Dallas and the lease we can do is support the Dallas cycling community, USA Cycling and this great event. It's right there in downtown so easy to reach, plenty of parking, it is FREE and you'll be treated to some of the best racing in the country.

I've been there the last couple of years. The event is free, parking is not, though. Ride in on DART if it's handy.

It looked cool on TV. I'm watching live this year.

Noticed this morning that Ivan Basso of Liquigas is registered to race in the pro race. A lot of local teams are represented too, so it should be interesting to watch.

To anyone that has gone before -> assuming you don't buy a VIP pass, where is the best place to watch?

One of the corners is best. One place is the NW corner of the AAC. The circuit runs counterclockwise, they slow a little for the turn then punch it for a slight downhill run to the south.

Pretty easy to move around the course.

Sitting on the back stretch is fun as well. A break typically forms up and the riders will rip down the road at 40+ mph, no joke. Great racing and an amazing spectacle. I'm not so sure about the Ivan Basso comment above... but if he's there why miss out?
