700c high racer swb recommendations
Hi y'all, I've been riding the same recumbent for the last 7 years and it's time to move up. I'm looking for a 700c high racer swb. I'm 6'2" so 700c shouldn't be an issue, but I'm also a Clydesdale at 205 lbs. I'm located in augusta ga USA. OK load me up with options!

Probably the most popular and available dual 700c recumbents are the Bacchetta Carbon Aero 2 and Bacchetta Corsa. I'd also recommend looking at the Metabikes Metaphysic, which has gotten lots of rave reviews. The Carbent Raven is ultra-light, custom made & expensive, but you'll never have to upgrade again. There are a bunch of others (M5 CHR, RANS F5 Pro, Optima High Baron, Cruzbike Vendetta & Silvio), but me thinks you would need to go quite out of your way to find them.

A friend of mine converted a Bacchetta Corsa to dual 700C wheels a couple years back. He's 6-foot-7, 250 lbs., so you would work well on that bike. It's good to know that this is a "standard" configuration for the bike now.

I'm 6'4", 180 lbs. 700C Corsa is a great fit and a fast bike with great handling and a solid road feel.

If you're not set on a 700C, I am putting my Rans F5 with 650C wheels up on the market in a day or two.
I can attest it's a speed machine, 49.7 mph on a nice downhill yesterday.

I second the idea of a Bacchetta. I'm working on my second one, a Giro this time with 26"x1.25" tires. My Strada, with the 650x23C was a speed demon, but not well suited for commuting so I went to something with a little more tire. The idea of a Bacchetta with 700's appeals to me, and like you, I'm a big guy, 6'-4", 240lbs and I find them easy to deal with and easy to reach the ground. Too bad you're set on the 700's as I'm planning to sell the Strada with the 650's.

You want speed? I'd suggest the CA 2.0... You've been riding enought that you'd enjoy a fast bike and there are lots of CA 2 riders in your part of the south that can give you lots of opinions and maybe even a test ride. The other option is the Carbent. Dana's a nice guy to work with also.

Giro26, and add a 700c wheelset to it and then you can ride 559's, 650c, or 700c...whatever you desire or conditions dictate. Yes, a 700x23 wheelset will fit in a 2007 era Giro26 without alteration... Plus the Giro26 has a higher weight rating due to the steel frame.

I've been very happy with my M5 CHR; but yes they are a bit hard to come by here in the States. Another option in the same price range as a CA2 or Carbent would be a Morciglio-built highracer. As an example of his work, this is his Apache:
Being a custom builder, he can do stuff like add a tailbox. He also makes a MBB FWD model, a lowracer, and a mid-racer. About the only kind of 'bent he doesn't make is a slow kind.
