Tire size for 1” rim?
Hi folks, I had refurbished my wife’s Miyata for my adult daughter. I believe the rims are 1” wide, and I had put a fairly narrow hybrid tire on them at the time, but she’s now finding they are riding trails that are a bit soft and the thin tires are a problem. How wide of a tire can I put on a 1” rim?
Thanks!
Thanks!

My Giant Sedona came with 1.95" tires on 1" rims. It is specked at 2.1". Looks like 2" tires should be no problem. The tires look much too wide for the rim, But they seem to work just fine.

Rims are very forgiving of what tires are put on them. Fork crowns and brake bridges are less forgiving. Measure (carefully) the clearance under the fork crown and rear brake bridge to see what tire will fit. Leave some clearance, at least 8mm. Rarely will a tire that can fit under the fixed parts of the bike not fit on the rims.
