street road tire for Fulcrum Racing 400 DB, Alloy clincher, 35mm deep

I am looking for tire recommendations for my road bike that I can take
on real roads. The tires I currently have I feel are too fragile. I got a flat the first two weeks of owning the bike.
I think I might want Grand Prix 5000 tires 700c x 28mm. I am not
sure what size my rims can take. I tried looking at the Cannodale site
and the Fulcrum site. The Fulcrum site list Fulcrum Racing 4 DB. My rims
are 400 DB. Maybe an old discontinued model? dunno.

Fulcrum Racing 400 DB, Alloy clincher, 35mm deep
Tires Vittoria Rubino Pro Speed, 700 x 26mm (23c)

I tried to email Cannodale but they don't list an email. Just this phone
number that does not work. It just drops you after it says no one is
available to help you.

Can I assume that if my bike came with 23mm tires 28mm should be not problem?

Your rims will be fine with 28s but you may have frame clearance issues. You cannot assume 28s will fit. Measure.

Check everywhere, frame, brakes, etc; on two of my bikes the limiting clearance on the rear is the front derailleur mechanism.

As Cannondale states that the OEM 23mm tires mount to 26mm, it seems highly unlikely that a 28 would fit that frame. You might get a 25 in there, as it should mount to ~28mm.

You're not getting flats because of the tire width, you're getting flats because the Rubino Pro Speed is basically a TT tire, and has virtually no flat protection in it.

"OEM 23mm tires mount to 26mm" what does this mean? The rim is so wide the 23mm tire is spread out like a 26mm tire?

It looks like I have roughly 7 to 10 mm on each side of my wheel. So I think I can go with the 28s, but if there's not real added benefit going from 25 to 28 should I just get the 25 then?

I personally wouldn't try to put a 28 on that bike. It would mount to 31-32mm wide on those wheels, and be taller in equal measure compared to what's on there now. I had an ill-fated experiment of trying to get a 700x28 on my Cervelo, and it was the tire height that was the issue, not the width. A 25 should fit just fine, and mount to 27-28mm wide.

It might be close. I would google actual tire sizes and see what they measure out. A 25 or 28 is not necessarily that width and the height varies between mfg.

I put a 28mm on an old Cannondale, entirely different, but I can’t fully inflate the tire until I get it into the frame.

That said a 25 will work well.

I am such a noob. I did not even consider the height. Thank you.

I will just order the 25 then.

Anyone have advice on a good street tire? I see this one come up in a lot of reviews. Grand Prix 5000. Should I just get that one?

I have zero KOM. So no need for TT tire for me. lol

The fulcrum line, ie 4 vs 400, is the same throughout. The hundred series wheelsets are identical save for custom logos and being issues as oem wheelsets as in the case of Cannondale currently. Functionally identical, visual different.
