Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

An ordinary tee shirt, when worn under the bibs, becomes a base layer. Base layers are much more valuable than tee shirts. This is where the expression "sweat equity" comes from.

But if he took off the shirt you’d complain even louder.

There are times when I don't feel like getting all kitted out. If it's going to be a short ride, sometimes I'll just wear running shorts and a tech tee. Actually very comfortable. But I don't see why you'd wear bibs but not a jersey. Well, maybe plumber butt.

With a heart rate monitor I'd be fine, but the tee shirt on a obviously warm day screams "I'm doing a photo op."

I just pity anyone getting shook up over what some dude is wearing while on a bike ride.

Unlike politics, there is a cycling low point below which we refuse to sink. If flaunting bib straps isn't there, it's pretty close.

I raced against someone who was dressed like that in collegiate. He held on for a while too. I think he had a singlespeed with bullhorns. Crazy.

It's okay if it's an Iron Maiden t-shirt, worn ironically.

That reason will do for me. I'm planning to wear actual cycling shorts more this year then previous years, last couple I've worn regular cycling shorts for most races and a couple of training rides. When I younger I didn't wear them at all, mostly due to cost.
Can remember a guy on a Trek Postal bike with the full matching kit like he was riding with Armstrong screaming that he came in third when I was wearing cut off jeans and a t-shirt and beat him out by half a second. But this year to keep the waist band of the shorts from rolling down I'm going bibs.

The world's greatest tyrannies happen because good men stay silent.

This one shall not succeed. Not on our watch.

Wearing an Iron Maiden T-shirt ironically is grounds for a beating.

So he looked like Lance - but did you dial it up to 400W and drope the hamer?

(Gawd I hope people still remember that)
