Des Plaines River Trail

Ride this trail quite frequently from Devon Av to Big Bend Lake in the Forest Preserves. Have went as far as the railroad crossing but you have to be very careful crossing the tracks as you have to cross 3 sets of tracks while carrying your bicycle to reach the other side of the trail near Golf Rd.It was a excellent ride trail is very smooth to ride on and no automobiles to contend with.

Lake county has a nice interactive map that shows where the underpasses are flooded. My experience has been that if anything in Lake County is closed the low parts of the trail in Cook County will be a mud bog. I like the DPRT a lot. Too bad it's unusable most of the time.
