Real Rail Trails
I remember seeing a picture years back of bikes designed to ride on rails. This was so that the cyclists could ride on abandoned rail stock, not do some Kamikaze stuff. Anyone know anything about it? Any sites.

I wouldn't put much money into it. Given the price of steel, railroads almost always rip up the old rails to steel for salvage, sell the ties, and even reuse the ballast. That leaves you few places to use your rail cycle unless chicken is your game. BTW - railroads are increasinly intolerant of trespassers on their right of way - and they prosecute. Sorry to throw a wet blanket on your party, but the number of places to safely and legally ride a rail cycle are extremely few.

I wasn't planing on doing it. I was on a bunch of rail trails this recent tour, and it just reminded me of the fact of these things. There are a number of rails I know of that get only one train a day. Some of those rigs look like one could carry a canoe. Have to think this over.
