Asheville, NC to Chattanooga, TN
Hey Everyone,
I'm just trying to tie some loose ends together for my summer tour route. Does anyone know of a safe and short cycling route between Asheville and Chattanooga?
Thanks for any help.

Actually the route google bike directions gave me seemed pretty decent, though it may need to be tweaked.

I added in Cherokee, NC (the Cherokee Nation Reservation) into Google Bike Maps as it seemed like an interesting stop along the way, plus I would still be in the vicinity of Smoky Mountain Parkway (after coming off of the Blue Ridge Pkwy) which continues to traverse through park lands where I imagine I'll find easier camping along the way.
The issue is that Google Earth reveals some narrow looking roads in this area. I was wondering if there were any better back-country roads perhaps with wider shoulders that run through this area? After reaching Chattanooga, my goal will be to link up to US 64 and continue across the southern tier of Tennessee to Memphis.
Has anyone here ever ridden this route before?
