I will use it around town so am putting Campagnolo racing triple on for gearing and drive. and I already have Campagnolo Olympus Short reach brake calipers and levers, also getting bullet shifters

First thing is getting the fit right with the parts I currently own. The overall plans are

180mm sram omnium crank(have)
drops/hoods
two brakes
130mm fixed rear wheel
clipless
fenders
hopefully 28c's if not 25

Once its dialed in I will get nicer stuff. The ritchey classic stem/post on the red singolo look great. That or thomson bits. Some hand built wheels with paul or phil hubs will probably come down the road. Ideally I would like to have all silver components but its not too much of a concern.

Those 80's schwinn racing frames are beasts. This is my '89 prelude / work / commuter bike. People keep giving me spoke cards... note the 'downtown time trial' aggressive position!

82 Trek 730. This model is for a bare frame that came in Pewter with burgundy head tube. Full 531 frame with Campy Drops.

At some point this bike was painted orange (and a decent job) and fitted with full Campy Super record Group and made somebody's race bike. I would love to find out who that was but unfortunately the one guy I can link this bike too is John Kovachi, a Local wheel builder about a mile from me that did the wheels on this bike. He unfortunately passed last fall.

Unfortunately the rear derailleurs and cranks are missing as was the rear hub. As a frame there was no "group" but it is decaled with Super Record decals. Bike had a Record FD on it I managed to find a Record rear hub and got a line on a Record rear derailleur to get it back into a full campy Group. Its not Super Record stuff but hopefully as time passes I'll find some.

As pictured it has 6000 Cyclone derailleurs and crank on it.

No official weight yet. My guess is 22.5lbs. Not bad for a frame over 2500g and wheels over 2000g. Nicer traditional wheels could get it around 20.5lbs, add a better frame and it would be sub 20.

The build was more about "the look" than the weight. Weight did play into the fork choice though.

Well I finally have a camera of my own again, so here's a french mystery bike (link to original thread) that I picked up last summer and cleaned up enough to ride and it's such a fun and nimble ride but I think I'm just too heavy for narrow tubulars so I am going to be upgrading in the spring... the pedals didn't turn out as nice as I'd wished and I have some aluminum french pedals around here somewhere I want to swap over... the triplex derailleur that was on the bike is still rusted solid so I might have to give up on that part too. Otherwise all the other parts except the brake pads and repro hoods are what was on the bike as-found... oh and the bell so I don't get a 110$ ticket... I think I'll get one of those fancy bells and some new cable housing too.

Welcome! I have a 62cm '87 Paramount, and yours looks even bigger than mine. That's an interesting color I don't think I've seen on a Paramount before.

EDIT - I see the color in the '85 catalog: Neon Orchid.

Put on the fulcrum's +mismatched tires from my alu racing bike. I don't trust the vittoria open corsas on the other wheels with the roads covered in random gravel and crap from ice/snow melt. Really glad I went with the shiftmate so I could easily swap wheels. Also put on a modern saddle as well just for fun. It weighs 21.8lbs as pictured if anyone is interested in that kind of thing. I haven't tried these old look pedals yet but hopefully they aren't sketchy...

the colnago looks hot with that front tire. you need to mount a match.

i really like the RB-1 too. i still vote DA 10spd downtubes and derailleurs teamed with those cranks and period correct DA brakes and levers. the tri-color/105 stuff looks nice but the DA mix would be unique and it would allow you to swap wheels.

the pedals look great on both. i think you will be very happy with them. they are heavier than keo pedals but i dont think my keos are going to last as long.
