Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Formula Xero XR-1 Wheelset??? anyone??

https://www.pricepoint.com/detail/131...Compatible.htm

At $239.00 Weight: Front: 650g Rear: 870g it sounds good. Have you tried them? Or do you know of a set in the same range for weight and value?

neuvation. www.neuvationcycling.com. probably one of the two or three best wheels for the money, unless you go with a built ultegra/mavic cxp-33 set.

I've been using the XR-1 for more than 2 years and they are TOUGH AS HELL!!!!!

Have hit deep and big potholes but these babies have stayed true....had them trued only 3 times their whole lives.

What have I to say? They are great wheels for the $ but a bit heavy compared to Ksyriums.

I've used the XR-1's for over a year and they are very, very decent. Are they as good as some of the high-end wheels? Well, probably no... But for a recreational cyclist or as training wheels, they are very nice. Light, strong enough (but I'm down to 155...) and minimal flex.

I think Titans are the samwe wheel, but John has much cooler decals. Plus, he's a little seller, I would probably buy from him If and when I rebuild my old Centurion.

they are very similar. same hubs and rims, but different spokes.

Never heard of them... (prior to this posting)....

Got burned on some inexpensive wheels once already. Being larger than average and a Campy rider also would play into my decision to pass...

But I see some good reviews (above)!

Cost = +400 for one rear….and it is only what 30 grams lighter…. Makes ya think about giving them a try….

A bit heavier than yours but you might give it a look... (No relation to the seller, just scanning eBay periodically as I'm interested in Velomax wheelset to get for the upcoming season...)

NEW 2004 Velomax Circuit wheels 700C clincher Shimano

I bought those earlier this week but he had them priced at $259 instead of $289. I received them today and they are just as he described. I considered the Xero wheels but decided to go with a better known wheelset. I can't wait to get the Velomax Circuit's mounted.

I ordered the tires (GP3000's), tubes (Michelin Ultra Lights), rim tape and a new cassette today. I should have them on the bike in the next week or so. Hopefully I will have some decent weather so I can take it out.

What about A-Class Alex 320's? Apparently, those are alsoa decent bang for the buck. I am considering a set of those for my wifes new bike.

Personally I would rather have the new Shimano WH-R550 wheels. Yeah they weigh a bit more but the are virtually indistinguishable from the Dura-Ace wheels. And the price is hard to beat. These look like the best pricepoint wheels around. It is hard to beleive theat these are the replacement to the R540's, what a huge leap in tech and quality.
