L.A. River Greenway
Here's something to get excited about in the L.A. Area.

My wife and I explored a small section of the Greenway from Canoga Park to Reseda. The nicest part of the route is it is completely free of cars.

It'd be nice to have another path from Long Beach to L.A. for sure.

Wow, that would be spectacular! It would be nice to have a way to get down town from my house without dealing with the traffic and streets between Whittier and there.

This path in Studio City (now fenced off) went from Coldwater to a blocked off ending at Laural Canyon. I don't understand why they build a path like this without connecting it?

Baby steps, I guess.

There's lots of crazy-seeming things like that in SoCal, probably for jurisdictional reasons. There's a short bike path that starts up at Imperial / Beach in La Habra that used to be a WHOLE BLOCK LONG. A few years ago they extended it to much fanfare but it is still not connected to the rest of coyote creek trail.
Baby steps, I guess.

It's just disjointed planning with no real purpose.
So I'm pretty much riding Ventura Blvd which in itself is 'interesting' ... poor pavement, variable lane width, ripples (rased parallel sections) that can take down a bike.
Excitement.

Sorry, this isn't Europe. Not much of a safety net. Not a choice for all of these people.

I am rather skeptical of the 2020 date. There is a pretty big gap north of whittier where rail yards and stuff will make it an expensive and slow proposition. SGRT and ART are likely to be the longest rides for some time.
