"TOO FAST" radar sign on bike trail!
This is funny! In Harris County (Houston area) Texas, we have the Spring Creek Greenway. 16 miles of nice, paved trail along Spring Creek, from I-45 to I-59.
I am getting my son into road biking, and this place is great because it is not too far from us, and is about the only place around to ride without car traffic!
We had not ridden the upper end in about a half year. So, we were surprised to see this new radar type speed sign. Note that the ONLY people on this trail are joggers and cyclists!
We came upon it with no notice, traveling about 11mph, and I exclaim, "Oh no!" and start ramping up my speed like crazy. I get ot 17mph before passing the sign. My son said he got to 16mph. So, we decide we definitely need ot try for better time on the return trip. This is about 1 mile from the top end of this trail.
On the way back, we give it another try. 16 mph, 17 mph, 18mpg, 19mph, "SLOW DOWN," "TOO FAST."
Disappointing. I really wanted to post a good speed on there. It maxes out at 19mph, and actually says "TOO FAST."
Anyway: this is the actual pic. No photo shop or anything.
After that try, I had to get a pic of my son. A nice topper to a great day.

I guess. If it didn't roll over to 'Too Fast,' it would just be begging for more sprints.

I had a car built in the early 80's. In those days, there were stories like:

I guess I am not as fast as you are. I saw the speed radar signs and my speed came up but not the too fast message. I think there are two places with these from I-45 to US59.

Maybe this is an attempt to control e-bike riders who always ride full-throttle?!?!

I know around the DMV region, due to the Covid shut down, the lack of vehicular traffic means bikes have been on the roads in prolific levels.
Local police have been pulling over bikers (E-bikes and road bikers who can put out crazy pace) on local roads who think the speed limits do not apply to them.
