Trek Madone 9.9 HELLUVA DEAL
Was down checking on my Emonda SL8 and ask the dealer to show me the other bikes has on sale to him at the moment. The madone 9.9 lists for 12,000 and i could get one in my size for 7500.00 OUT THE DOOR..I am so tempted to pull the plug on one of these also at that price. They have 16 of them in the warehouse at the moment..

Lol. If I spent $7,500 on a bike, the bike wouldn't be the only thing going OUT THE DOOR.
One of these days, I gotta get myself an uberbike. The last time I set out to do that, I couldn't bring myself to do it and bought a $2800 bike instead.
If it's your passion and you can afford it, go for it!

You haven't taken delivery of the SLR8 yet.
Yesterday i was at the LBS and they were working on a Madone 9. I was told the owner barely rides but wanted a expensive bike. I guess if you can afford expensive toys, then go for it.
BTW, he also owns a Ferrari.
Trek should give you the bike for free, sort of like, if you buy 10, the next is free
Now I have 3 bikes, but only one is "stupid" expensive and the others don't specifically overlap each other.

Trek Days are coming up and my LBS said there may be even more of a price drop at that time. They still had over 30 of them in the warehouse when we checked yesterday..

I have purchased way more then 10 bikes from him and he keeps luring me in with these insane deals. No I have not picked up the SLR8 yet, but this Trek 9.9 Madone would be the newest bike on the top of my food chain. Oh no fancy cars for me as i could not afford one.. I prefer Camera Equipment, Bikes, and High End HID Flashlights to name a few..
It was a toss up between the Madone and the Emonda. I have the Domane with Isospeed. Incredibly nice bike, the Domane SLR.

My only regret with a custom bike was waiting until I was 50 and walking on crutches before I broke down and ordered one.

I have a highly expensive Handmade Elferink archtop guitar and it would not go for $7500 but if I sold it I would put toward a really nice Lynskey Ti. So from that prospective that is an expensive bike but frankly if you have the spare change go for it.................seems a little materialistic for a deacon but it funds the economy.

A $12,000 bike now selling for $7500 tells me that high end bikes are obscenely over priced and a rip off of the public. What is even more of a joke IMO is the fact that they are plastic bikes. They are plastic reinforced by carbon fibers.
Think about all the poor smucks that got ripped off for the $12,000!!!!

If I walked into a shop that had the L5 I wanted it would be in the back seat driving home with me. There is no way I'd spend that kind of money on a bike but... if that's your thing, go for it and don't look back.

I bought a bike that was a great deal (to me) basically about $900 off of a $2300 dollar bike. So at the time my budget was about $1K so that deal seemed to hard to resist and the bike fit me really well, so out came the cash and the bike into my trunk. So your deal very similar in terms of percentages begs the question are bikes marked up that much. I would have to think that at $4500 off (or my case $900 off) there's still some money being made here by the LBS and by the Mfr.
The question is should you go for it? Sure why not, if you have this kind of cash for a bike and it's what you love then why not.
