My bike is dragging

I got on one of my bikes this morning and I was surprised how much drag it had when taking off from stops. Much slower on a take off compared to yesterday's ride.

I checked the wheels, brakes, etc. and came to the conclusion that I'm the one dragging.

That's what happens when I don't get to ride as often as I like, I'm worn out from other physical work, and having a couple shots of Bourbon the night before.

I'm always a slug at the beginning of the season. OTOH, my season won't start until April.

I got lots of first world problems. You know, only us first worlders ride bicycles.

One thing that added to my lack of energy today was me changing the upper front strut mounts on my car on Thursday. Had to use a 4 lb. mini sledge to get the struts out of the lower control arms. Nothin' like takin' a day off from my traveling service tech job to be a mechanic on somethin' else.

Plus, I gotta work on my wife's car this afternoon after she returns home. Just glad I got to sneak in a ride this morning.

Usually, I'm the same. Today's ride was unplanned, but I went for it anyway.

I can't prove it, but I swear a glass or two of Cab the night before a big ride enhances power and endurance. I used to have a zero tolerance rule for no alcohol the night before, but I broke the rule once or twice and had unexpected positive results the next day. And I typically ate a carb heavy meal the night before, and the morning of, the ride, so the alcohol sugar carbs shouldn't have been a factor, Resveratrol and antioxidants maybe?

Some days when I go for a ride I feel as if my legs had turned to rubber the night before. I can get on the same bike the day after feeling rubbery and have a fantastic ride. I guess we just have days when the mojo isn't there. Or as some say, days when, "My get up and go got up and left".

Cheers

Man I just got my first bicycle today since I was a teen (10+ years ago) and my butt is so sore. I also felt like I got the wind knocked out of me since I never do extensive cardio. The speed was fun but I'll be exhausted until I get used to this.
