Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Daylight savings time!! Yess!!!!

Man, I love being back on DST. Now I can go back to riding every day. No more weekend warrior or squeezed-in lunchtime rides.

Any other DST lovers?

Anybody prefer standard time for the morning riding?

Standard time just makes me......tired.

Nope. I'm anti DST. I ride early in the morning, before work. Now it's dark at that hour.

I hate the time change thing. My system is screwed up for weeks.

This is one thing Arizona does right. Never change the clocks.

In spite of the lost hour of the weekend, it's still one of my absolute favorite days of the year. I celebrated with a very wet ride this afternoon after work - I may not have normally gone out, but with a new bike and the first full day of daylight time I couldn't resist.

We are about to come out of it. I prefer riding after work, plus I commute, so it pretty much ruins that.

I wish DST could be all year 'round.

Must have rained pretty hard where you were. I was in the north area around Exposition, and only got light rain until Howe Ave south of Arden, where it quit.

DST rules! I wish we would stay DST all year and not change the clocks.

Depends on the shift I'm on. Now that I'm on 12-8am schedule DST is great. Living in Indiana I was hating when we started observing it, now it's ok.

It apparently poured just a little before I got home from work. While I was out, I only got some light rain, but the ARBT was really muddy in places and had some massive puddles between Sac State and Highway 80. Also nearly wiped out under Northgate Blvd - this was my 3rd ride on my new setup which came with low end Rubino Slicks.

Much of the path was dry, but the wet sections under trees were slicker than duck sh__!

I was on that same section of trail, and very glad to be on my adult trike at the time I only use my road bike for recreation. Everything else I use utility bikes for. I am car-lite.

I love DST and wish the world would remain on DST all the time. Sadly ... DST is ending in a little less than a month. The long, sunny evenings will be signficantly shortened, and I might have to start going to work earlier in order to get home earlier to ride earlier.

I hear you. I ride early in the morning too around 4:30. It really sucks during the first week of dst.

At 4:30 isn't it dark with or without DST?

Yep...But at the Start of DST, it feels like it 3:30 to me. 4:30 is bad enough. 3:30 just outright sucks!

If I had to be anywhere at either hour, I'd probably just not go to bed. What a gawdawful time to be awake, unless you're on a 2 day binge, Charlie Sheen style.

I'm loving the extra hour of light each evening. My body still hasn't caught up though and I have been late to work each morning.

I commute to work so it's nice that the sun is still out when I'm making my way home.

I prefer to be in bed, but it's the only time I have to ride. Actually it's kind of nice...i have the roads to myself because no one else is crazy enough to ride at that hour...i know, it proves your point ;-)

There is something about being available to go outside during more daylight that just makes it easier to get up in the morning.

I like it for after-work rides, but it makes getting up in the morning so much more difficult. Without the sunlight I just want to keep sleeping!

Love it! I'm an after-work exerciser. I usually work to around 6, which makes exercising outside during winter almost impossible.
