Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? That's what people have been saying though mostly about the non-carved but still. So more and more I am leaning towards getting it.

So, i'll be moving to SF in the next couple of months. I've been there many many times. Do people ever try to take those hills straight away(California street, yeah right)?

Nice. I like Nob Hill. I stayed in the apartment where Dashiell Hammett wrote The Maltese Falcon, a couple years ago.

It's a great ride. Picked it up as a fixer-upper a few years back and always liked it.

Been waiting to swap the 25.4 bullhorn bar on my Felt to a 31.8. I have this bar on my Jamis that I got a great deal on from a friend. Did not want to pay full retail for another, so I waited. Currently on sale big time! MFG Overstock - Bontrager Race Bullhorn Handlebar - Handlebars - MFG Overstock -Trek Store

Now stem shopping since I don't have a good 31.8 stem. Thoughts on Deda Elementi stems?

I ran a Deda Zero-1 for a while. No complaints except that I wasn't crazy about the way it looked.

Just be aware that the Deda Zero-01 has a 31.7mm clamp diameter, not 31.8mm, and can be a little tight on some 31.8mm bars.

This is just marketing hogwash. It's Deda's way of making the consumer think you absolutely need to use Deda bars in their stems.

My Deda RHM02 bars (which are also supposedly 31.7mm) measure 31.78 on my digital caliper.
