What is considered a "light" bike?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you are rich and skinny, 15 pounds is lightweight. If you are not so rich and a little overweight, 20 pounds is lightweight.

about 6,8kg is light.
if its above that its kinda heavy according to UCI.
in my world a bike under 10kg is light enough and also most likely durable enough for daily use. no 6,8kg bike will be durable enough for daily use. its race day only material.

When it weighs less than the bike you are comparing it too.

I would disagree with that. My road bike is under 6.8kg and it's plenty durable. Not only do I race on it, but I've ridden many 100 mile rides on it as well. The only time it doesn't get ridden is if I go for a gravel ride.

Do you have a bathroom scale? Weigh yourself, then weigh yourself holding the bike. Subtract the two numbers to get a rough bike weight measurement.

1. Buy scale at Costco

2. Weigh yourself

3. Weigh yourself with bike

4. Subtract (#2) from (#3)

5. Enter the result of this calculation on line 5.

6. Gloat or get suicidal

7. Return scale to Costco. Tell them it is giving you a negative body image and you are afraid of developing an eating disorder.

If it bothers you to put water bottles and a Brooks saddle on your bike, it is (too) light.

Welcome to Pandora's box, where if you say something against ultra light carbon bikes some angry denizen sets your house on fire.
