Many thanks, @browngw. I'll look into that stand. Clearance looks a bit tight near the rotor - I presume there's no danger of any rubbing/fouling?

No problems yet. Plenty of clearance (3/4"). If I bashed around logs and rock gardens ( I don't) I might be concerned.

My Framed Minnesota 3.0 was delivered this weekend. It's all ready to go except for pedals which I still need to buy. Unfortunately, I'll have a few more weeks of convalescing from a roadie accident before I can try it out. Hopefully, will be riding again by Christmas.

I assume plain platform pedals are the way to go in snow?

I've ridden with a ton of options for snow/winter riding: simple platforms, platforms with straps, and clipless pedals with a larger platform (MalletE).

I've found that I like the MalletE pedals best for winter commuting, technical winter trail riding, and long, snowy, rail-trail rides.

Additionally, I bought the 45NRTH Wolvhammer boots (not many clipless shoes are warm enough for winter riding)

Basically, yes... and it's weak.

Reference info: It's time for Fatbikes to have their own forum

Well that’s a shame. Fat bike threads get lost in here. Perhaps having a dedicated fat bike section and trying it out for a while would work. If it didn’t work it could be merged back to here.

There are so many specific elements to fat biking that I think it does warrant its own section.

I completely agree. With all the sections on this forum, I wonder what's the big deal on making a Fat bike section?
Is there a cost to it? Does it tax the moderators more?

But, watching videos on Youtube, it seems that there are still many old school types that believe Fat bikes are just a fad and will take the way of the automatic rear derailleur.
And it may be true. In a year or 2, I may get tired and moth ball my fattie, but not anymore than recumbents, BMX or Alt Bike Culture. (BTW, I am not putting those sections down).

What is the cost?

Thoughts on using a Brooks saddle with a fattie? I have a really nice B17N on an old road bike that I don't use too often anymore and also a Swallow that I recently changed out for a C15. Obviously snow/water is not great for a leather saddle but I'm thinking that the comfort will be worth it. I'm leaning toward the B17N. A WTB volt came with the bike.

I have used a B17 on my Pugsley and like it a lot. For winter riding, I'm not worried about snow, and I keep a MTB fender on the bike to keep the slush from splashing the underside. In the spring I swapped the B17 to a commuter bike and put a C17 on the Pugsley in advance of a wet Almanzo 100, and I just haven't taken the time to switch back...

Thanks. Good to know. Getting over a fractured pelvis right now so nothing is too comfortable but the B17N is already well molded to my butt.
