AMEN to changing Social Circles!!!

Age is a state of mind. I am a 70 y/o registered nurse and I have served some pretty old people in their 30's.
And I have enjoyed serving some very young 90's.

Life is all about choices and I choose to laugh and enjoy life with those of the same mindset.

I'm a mere 66
I have a similar situation: I am 68 and ride with guys 15-25 years younger and some older than me, but it's the 70,73 and 75 years-olds who beat all of us. They have incredible stamina and seem to be able to cruise at 18mph and above for ever.

Hi folks

just read this thread from its start. How very interesting and reassurintg.

Now I am 70 and having the time of my life with grandchildren, biking and golf. Oh I attempt to play the violin too and do many other things besides. Guess my body has forgotten to get old and so I am raring to be on the go always. My wife often riles me by telling me I am too old to ride so much with my (younger) friends and I must learn to laugh it off....

glad to have a forum like this to cheer myself up... and oh, I am a retiree living in sunny Singapore

As they say, life begins at 70 . . . . . . . . . . . . and ends at 72!

So that is why some people appear to look right through me, as though I don't exist. I'm a ghost! And here I thought it was because of age bigotry.

I'll see if Gordy Shields wants to start a 90+ thread in a couple of months.

I am only 39 (hexadecimal), so what do I know?

My first time in awhile was last week. It seems the State is flagging the drivers licenses ofpeople convicted of multiple DWIs.

hi chri

the distaff side makes my riding a bit of a hassle sometimes .. thinks I am too old to ride so much and so 'fast' ... will never have a peaceful moment if I breathe the word 'competition'

hope you do well in the ironman ... in a fortnight the distaff, me and my son's family will spend a few days in Hong Kong tomfoolering around, including the Disneyland there for the kids.... funny that I am going to that disneyland cos when I was in LA several times I never visited it once

Howdy do fellow senior guys and gals! Over 71½ but still carrying the mind of a young 23 yr old! Haven't been on a bike since 1951, but SIL gave me his 1996 Schwinn Sidewinder on Friday. Like brand new, he only rode it "about 10 miles" and it has been in the storage building just gathering dust. Anyway, I cleaned it up and took a ½ mile ride on a route that I usually walk. WOW! Flew w/the wind and really enjoyed it, but SORE isn't the word for it! Glad I found this forum as I was looking for the correct way to calibrate a speedometer. Thank y'all for having me here. :-)

I'll be 67 in May and this morning I rode 49 miles with a 70 yr old and a 30 yr old. the 70 yr old kicked our butts and the only reason we were able to keep up with him is his derailler cable broke and he couldn't shift down going up the hills.

Spring has came to the MN Tundra (FINALLY!) and today I'm breaking the bike out of storage and hitting the trail. I'm 67 and really miss riding when the winter is here. Like my 96 year old Step-Father says: "Keep moving, Boy, its harder for Pappy Time to hit a moving target"! I figure at 96 he ought to know!!
Hey, I AM peddling!! :-)

Hello, fellow old farts! By the time I discovered this thread it will almost be time to start a 75+ discussion. I just had my 73rd a couple weeks ago. I do about 5500 miles per year currently on a Tour Easy and Canondale Synapse 5 carbon. I have a few stories here:

https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/journ...r=dickthornton

The one about the aging cyclist is due for an update shortly since I had a brief eight month fling with trikes but have been cured of the malady. Speaking only for myself, of course.

Hey!

After discovering this thread and posting, there has been no more activity. I guess I killed it. Or maybe we are just few in numbers. Anyone out there?

Like a rare wine, we are few and far between, but of excellent quality, and worth getting to know.

I am contemplating a 70+ thread!!
