Miele: Value and Model

Hi all! I'm in the market for a road bike. Stumbled across this...

What's the model and value? I'm new to bikes so anything would help, just trying to learn how to gauge the prices of bikes.

Thanks!

Hi, A drive side photos and a pic of the decal near the seat might be helpful, Ben

These are the other photos, I don't have anything close up of decal or drive.

Looks like it may need a little TLC . Possibly Lupa , maybe Latina ? If that bike is a good size for you, I would go look at it and ride it . I once had a Lupa , exactly like this one, but a different color, great bike ! Plenty of threads on here on how to do maintenance .

I was tempted to go look at it. $300 is a bit much as bike needs work but so is the asking price for Miele's in GTA.
I had similar Miele in the past, also Cromor tubing - was nice rider.
They do pop up for $100 once in a while but you have to watch kijiji and CL like a hawk as they are usually gone in seconds.
I'd say go look at it, check for dents, make sure there are no cracks, seatpost and stem are not stuck, etc - usual things. Be prepared to shell out for new tape, cables and may be housing and BB, headset and hub overhaul.
Can't see drivetrain in his pictures so can't comment on it.
What is got going for it is location, not everyone is able to drive to Newmarket to pick up a bike. Nice color and OK condition like that - probably would be already gone in Toronto

I agree with elboGreaze, it looks like a Lupa. Not a great deal but not out of line as price goes here in the GTA. I owned the Gara the model up from that one and it was a great bike. It used the same Cromor tubing.

AHH, competition haha! Another thing is that I don't have cycling shoes... seems like I need them for this bike.

The subject bicycle is a 1988 or 1989 Miele Lupa in the Apple Green colour option. The OEM Shimano New 105 crankset has been replaced with an older model. IMO, the clipless pedals should not be a concern. Decent quill pedals sell for far less that what you can get for those clipless pedals. However, I'd be buying proper, cleat compatible, cycling shoes. That seems to be a good price for the GTA.

Get regular platform pedals and you can ride in any shoes

Looks like the frame is a bit too large for me. Seller said around 22 - 22.5" while i'm only 5'11.

That frame is bigger than 22". From the head tube length I'm guessing 23" (~58cm) which should be about right for a 5' 11" rider, depending on your leg length.

I am 178cm on a good day with real inseam around 33 and I bet this frame would fit. I never trust seller's measurements - if you have the means go and see it in person.

I agree with Stan, looks to be a 23" frameset , should be doable for a 5"11 rider . If $300 is the ask, that bike should be gone by now.

Hmm, maybe I'll go check it out then, won't be in town for a bit so hopefully it won't go.

Edit: Ah, its gone. Too bad

I'm not surprised it sold quickly. As I said, it was a good price for the GTA.

Yes, it was a good deal. I am not even looking for Miele right now but was tempted to get it either to part out or keep as a loaner for friends

That chart looks really good, saved a copy - put's me right on my preferred size. People try to tell me a 58 is good but I end up with 10" of seat post showing.
