Riding up Haleakala Tuesday 4.30

Anyone care to join? This will be my first attempt and I’m renting a Roubaix from west Maui Cycles. Planning to leave Paia at around 0630.

It was probably the toughest 1 day challenge of my life and I wouldn't change a thing...except try to go faster. I had perfect weather and followed my plan of stops for water and food. I had to stop way more than I thought I would to rest. The altitude was rough being that I'm at pretty much sea level in Seattle. I think it was around 6 hours and 45 minutes moving time up and 43 flat from summit to the car. Going down was much, much easier!

Congrats on that ride. I tried a number of years ago and didn't make it and had to stop about 6000' up. I'm still looking to try again, it is #1 on my bucket list of rides when I retire later this year!
